How to take care of your perfumes to make it last?

6/22/2022

Knowledge and Proper storage are the keys to making your perfume last longer. You may also want to pay attention and know that all perfumes have their own expiry dates and they all degrade over time no matter how well you store it – the difference just lies in their speed of degradation.

Keep It Closed After Use

perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore How to take care of your perfumes to make it last?
Ever had times when you forget to cap back your perfume bottles after using it? Or forgetting to place it back to its original ideal storage location? Because I have committed them before and suffered the consequences, that I could be here to tell you the lessons I have learnt.

If you leave the perfume bottle uncap, the fragrance aromatic compounds in the perfume undergoes a chemical reaction called oxidation which could very likely change the fragrance profile of the perfume.

Furthermore, the more obvious reason is that more fragrance can escape when it is left unclosed. Hence try as much as possible to keep the bottle closed after using it to maintain its fragrance profile.

Cool Spot

perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore How to take care of your perfumes to make it last?
Do place your perfumes in a location where its shaded and away from any heat source. Perfumes are delicate creatures especially so to heat and it is best to place them in a cool and shaded corner of your room.

However, do not mistake cool as cold and put your perfumes in the refrigerator. This is due to their tricky and complex composition of perfumes and extreme cold can cause a disruption to the fragrance chemical composition which could hasten its degradation process as well.

Dry Premises

perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore How to take care of your perfumes to make it last?
Ever heard of people recommending toilets as a good place to store their perfumes? This is a one of the express ways to hastening the perfume’s degradation process.

This is due to the fact that toilets can accumulate heat and water vapour from our showers or baths. This build-up of humidity in the toilets from the steam or vapour evaporation and condensation are also factors that negatively affect our perfume quality.

Back into Its Own Box or a Dark Place

perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore How to take care of your perfumes to make it last?
Despite how inconvenient it is to store your perfume every time after you are done using it back into its original box, this box serves as an extra protection to the sunlight it may be exposed to.
UV rays are harmful not just to us humans but also to delicate and scented creatures as well. These rays upon hitting the aromatic compounds in the perfumes can cause much changes to it profile and accelerate the perfume degradation as well.

Therefore, usually, perfume bottles that are opaque last longer if stored properly as compared to perfume bottles that are transparent.

Smaller Size Perfumes

perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore How to take care of your perfumes to make it last?
If you know you do not use perfumes on a daily basis and only on certain formal occasions, or use during your travels, choose the smaller size perfumes.

As mentioned before, if you keep opening the bottle, it will more easily be expose to oxygen and cause more risk in oxidation process to occur, inducing unwanted changes to your perfumes.

In Summary,

Ideally, store your perfumes in a dry, cool, and dark places and always opt for the smaller size perfumes if you would like to limit as much degradation to the perfume as much as possible.

6 Calming Scents That Can Help You Relax And De-Stress

6/20/2022

6 Calming Scents That Can Help You Relax And De-Stress
Everyone deals with stress either once in a while or on a regular basis. The truth is, stress is a normal part of life. When neglected, however, stress can significantly reduce your sense of well-being and adversely affect the overall quality of your life. Hence, it is imperative that we take a break and unwind from time to time. If you are a busy bee whose daily schedule is often jam-packed, one of the best things you can do to de-stress is through aromatherapy.

Some studies have already proven that certain fragrances have the ability to soothe stress and facilitate relaxation - one of the primary reasons companies are leaning towards make-your-own-fragrance workshops as a popular type of team building activity. If you are interested in joining the aromatherapy hype, here are six of the most calming scents to help you relax after a long, stressful day.

1. Lavender

Lavender is among the loveliest fragrances known for helping lessen emotional stress and calming your nerves. This scent has a soothing effect that can relieve nervous tension, minimise depression, and ease headaches and migraines. If you are suffering from insomnia or simply having a hard time falling asleep, smelling this scent can also help you drift off to sleep more easily.

2. Jasmine

Like lavender, jasmine is also a great scent for calming the nerves and reducing depression. Its natural uplifting capabilities produce feelings of confidence and optimism while revitalising your energy. Moreover, this fragrance can improve your sleep quality as it has some relaxing properties and antispasmodic qualities. For those busy studying or working, the jasmine scent can also help improve concentration.

3. Rosemary

Speaking of studying or working, putting a rosemary-scented candle or florals on your desk is highly recommended since this scent can help enhance your focus and memory retention. Aside from this, rosemary is known for having some stimulating properties that combat headaches, physical exhaustion, and mental fatigue. You can also use it topically to ease muscular aches and pains.

4. Lemon

Like jasmine and rosemary, lemon also promotes better concentration and has relaxing and clarifying properties that can help you calm down whenever you feel anxious, angry, or depressed. Furthermore, lemon has some antibacterial and antiviral properties that can help you get rid of colds and sore throats by boosting your immune system and enhancing blood circulation. Thus, you can count on lemon to reduce your stress and anxiety with just a sniff.

5. Cinnamon

Are you experiencing mental fatigue and having difficulty focusing on your tasks? If the answer is yes, the cinnamon scent can help solve your problems. This scent has stimulating properties that help you suppress mental exhaustion and improve concentration. In addition, the fragrance of cinnamon has the ability to relax your muscles and remove the tension from your body. Hence, you can count on cinnamon to improve your sleep quality.

6. Ylang ylang

Ylang ylang is a popular healing scent due to its health-enhancing characteristics and soothing properties. This fragrance has been found to help treat problems of anxiety, depression, palpitations, and high blood pressure. It is also known for being a natural sedative, as it can help you fall asleep faster and significantly lower your stress levels. Due to its linalool content, ylang ylang is considered antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory.

Conclusion

Dealing with stress does not necessarily have to be costly - there is no need to go on a shopping spree or travel a great distance to the beach just to unwind and reduce your stress. Aromatherapy is perfect for stress-relievers, but they also provide a number of benefits, such as being able to treat common illnesses. By simply smelling the right scents, you can already give your mind and body the relaxation that it needs after long, tiring hours of work.

If you are looking to participate in some fun and relaxing activities that can help you de-stress, you should definitely consider signing up for a make-your-own-perfume workshop. How Differently Should We Sport Perfumes in Summer and Winter?

6/11/2022

Can the weather temperature really determine what I should wear for my perfume? I would say, “yes and no”.

“Yes” because perfumes are highly sensitive to heat. Hence, when it is summer or at places in the tropical regions, perfumers evaporate more easily. This causes your perfume to be not as lasting as it would have if the weather is colder.

Why I also said no is because, the decision lies ultimately with your choice, preference and what you prioritise when you wear a perfume.

Summer Style

perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore How Differently Should We Sport Perfumes in Summer and Winter?
You may have heard or relate summer scents to citrus and fresh notes such as bergamot, grapefruit or cut grass. These fragrances certainly may appear to possess the scent of summer since people associates summer to beaches, cocktails and the sun, making it seem like the scents should be energetic and invigorating as well.

However, citrus and fresh notes are the Top notes of perfumes and usually do not last very long as compared to the other scents. So, if you want your perfume to stick to you longer under a hot weather, you may want to opt for fragrances that is more concentrated in the middle and base notes such as florals, woody and oriental scented fragrances.
perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore How Differently Should We Sport Perfumes in Summer and Winter?
I would say that in winter, or air-conditioned rooms, you will be able to be more spoilt for choice. This is due to the fact that cold weathers and environments help you to slow down the speed of perfumes evaporating.

So, if you love citrus scents, you can still sport citrus scents in winter for a longer period of time as compared to when you wore your citrus scent perfume in summer.

But since it is colder, you will be covering yourself with layers of clothes, therefore, base notes are also perfect in keeping yourself scented and good smelling for a longer period of time.

Fragrance Examples

Top Notes: Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Lemongrass
Middle Notes: Jasmine, Rose, Chamomile, Lavender, Tea Tree
Base Notes: Vanilla, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Musk, Vetiver, Pepper

In Short,
Temperature, weather and seasons are some of the major determining factors on how long our perfumes can last on us! So, the next them when we choose which perfume to wear, we could also know to consider the location and season we are in.

Father's Day: 4 Savvy Tips To Help Pick The Perfect Cologne

6/7/2022

Father's Day: 4 Savvy Tips To Help Pick The Perfect Cologne
If you are reading this, then that means it is that time of the month again, the day to celebrate all fathers: Father’s Day! At this time, the chances are that individuals will be scouring shopping centres and online shops to find the perfect gift to give the father figures in their lives.

Among the most common gifts to give to Dad this Father’s Day is cologne. While it might be something traditional, you can still make your gift unique and new by taking the time to pick one that reflects the recipient’s unique personality and style.

To help you in your search for the perfume that best represents Dad, here are some questions to ask yourself when finding the best scents that appeal to men;

1. What fragrance are they using at the moment?

Knowing the fragrance that your dad or husband is currently using is one of the best discreet ways to understand their preferred type of scent. If they are often using a particular scent, then the chances are that it is the type of fragrance they are drawn to for themselves.

There are many ways to go about learning their favourite scent. A way to do so is by finding out the dominant fragrance in their grooming products, such as shower gel and body lotion. From there, you can begin your search for perfumes with similar notes.

2. Are you looking to play it safe or be more adventurous?

One of the first few steps to buying cologne before anything else is to decide whether you are seeking a mass-marketed fragrance or one that is one-of-a-kind. While choosing a more common fragrance may be the safest way to go about it, you risk them smelling like other men.

Hence, if you would like your father or husband to have a scent that is unique to them, it would be the best time to make your own fragrance that fits their personality or style. Not only would it be a sweet gesture on your part, but it also makes for a distinct scent that they are sure to appreciate!

3. Will the scent suit the recipient?

Suppose you would like to forego the usual and instead give them something new but are unsure of what to get. In that case, you can base your choice on their personality and style. Their clothes, hairstyle, hobbies, and demeanour will tell whether they are fun-loving, easy and practical, refined and sophisticated, independent and unconstrained, athletic, accommodating, adjusting, or others. You can then base your selection based on the information you gather. That way, you are bound to know that the perfume you buy for them will suit them well.

4. Would you prefer for them to choose their own perfume?

To play it safe and ensure that they will love your gift, you may consider letting them choose the scent they prefer. By allowing them to make their own choice, you can guarantee that they will make full use of the cologne. Here at Perfume Workshop, we provide a perfume personality test for men (and women, too!) before you make your own perfume. This way, you can have peace of mind knowing that the recipient chooses one that they will actually like and use often.

Conclusion

Whether you are looking to get a Father’s Day gift for your father or husband, the key to picking out the ultimate present is to think about their personal style, taste, preferences, and the like. Doing so will help you narrow down your options and find the perfect present. Coupled with an original scent as a gift for the special dads in your life, you can be sure that they will be delighted with the olfactory delight. Contact us today to begin customising a unique scent for the special father figures in your life!

perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore Essential oil blends to calm your monday blues
We’ve all had those days where we have to drag ourselves out of bed and prepare for work. Admit it, Mondays are the worst. There’s so much tasks to be completed and Fridays seem so out of reach.

How about a pick-me-up essential oil blend? I’ve collated some of our favourite essential oil blends that you could either diffuse or apply to achieve a calming effect.
#1. Lavender, Orange and Frankincense
There are so many known benefits of smelling lavender. And research has shown that the fragrance from the oil is beneficial to help destress and great for people who are suffering from sleep disorder and insomnia. Orange carries an uplifting effect to our moods, just like frankincense.

#2. Bergamot, Ylang-Ylang and Patchouli
In the past, practitioners added bergamot with water and consumed it as a health tonic. It contains antiseptic and pain relieving properties, and hence is a favourite among many. Ylang-Ylang and patchouli have a relaxing fragrance, which makes them a popular option to include in scented candles as a base note. Their scent helps us to destress and relax, which is a good option to use before you head to bed.
Diffuse:
●    5 drops of bergamot
●    3 drops of patchouli
●    2 drops of ylang-ylang

#3. Sandalwood, Bergamot and Clary Sage
Sandalwood is useful for enhancing our moods. The grounding aroma of Sandalwood helps to calm any unsettling emotions. Some other benefits of sandalwood includes:
●    Managing anxiety
●    Increasing alertness

Clary sage oil is known for its calming properties and promoting a restful night’s sleep. This is definitely one of my favourite blends!
Diffuse:
●    5 drops of sandalwood
●    2 drops of bergamot
●    3 drops of clary sage

I hope that the above blends can benefit you and chase your Monday blues away! Share with us! What are some of your personal blends and why they work for you? We’d love to know!

Know the difference: Fragrance Oil vs Essential Oil

5/22/2022

perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore Know the difference: Fragrance Oil vs Essential Oil
I’m sure you’ve definitely heard the term ‘fragrance oil’ and ‘essential oil’, but do you actually know what sets them apart? To many, they’re both just scents that you can use to freshen up your surrounding environment. But what is the difference really?
perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore Know the difference: Fragrance Oil vs Essential Oil
Fragrance oils are synthetic. They are a mixture composed of aroma chemicals, aromatic resins and sometimes a mixture of essential oils. As compared, these synthetic oils are generally less expensive and widely available.

Essential oils are extracted from herbs, plants and flowers using a steam distillation. The plants are suspended over boiling water and the steam pulls out the oil from the plant. It is then captured and condensed back into water. The essential is then collected as water and essential oil do not mix. It is a tedious and expensive process.
perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore Know the difference: Fragrance Oil vs Essential Oil
Fragrance oils are commonly used in soaps , body products, detergents and perfumes with the purpose of making them smell good. Unlike essential oil, fragrance oil does not have any therapeutic benefits to them.

Essential oils are known for their therapeutic properties in aromatherapy. For example, studies have shown that inhaling pure lavender oil can help one to relieve stress. Or how people use peppermint to boost energy and aid digestion.
perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore Know the difference: Fragrance Oil vs Essential Oil
Fragrance oils are generally cheaper than essential oil as they are man-made synthetic oil and there is no need for extraction of the oil from its source. It is easy to manufacture, while producing consistent results.

Essential oils are typically pricey depending on the type of oil and the scarcity of the oil source. It also takes a huge amount of material to produce a small quantity of pure essential oil. Did you know that it requires approximately 242,000 rose petals to product 5ml of pure rose essential oil? The extraction process is much more expensive as compared to fragrance oil.

8 Creative Ways To Get More Use Out Of Perfume Samples

5/19/2022

8 Creative Ways To Get More Use Out Of Perfume Samples
From giveaways at shopping malls to freebies in fashion magazines, virtually everyone tends to acquire perfume samples from just about everywhere. Over time, these samples accumulate in our purses, dressers, drawers, or simply lying around in many other places at home. Oftentimes, you like the sample’s fragrance but not enough that it is worthy of being your new signature scent. Other times, they may not just fit your personal preferences.

So, if you are unsure of what to do with your pile of samples, read on to know how you can finally put them to good use;

1. On-the-go perfume

If you have samples of fragrances you enjoy but are not exactly your favourites, you can use them as on-the-go perfume. Simply keep them in your bag or purse to have a scent handy to spritz on for when you could use a quick pick-me-up.

2. Scented cards

Scenting your business cards, greeting cards, and good ol’ letters give them a personal touch and take the gesture to the next level. A tip to avoid perfume stains on your cards but still have the scent last longer: consider squirting a few pumps onto a cotton ball and place it along with the card in a plastic bag overnight.

3. Car fragrance alternative

If your car smells of fast food or other unpleasant odours that may be picked up from the outside, it could use a fragrance overhaul with the help of the samples you have on hand. Repurpose your perfume samples as a car air freshener by spraying them on tissue paper, cardstock, or cotton balls and leaving them under the seats. This trick will leave a pleasant and lingering scent, and it also works well with paper perfume samples found in magazines.

4. Spray on linens

Nothing beats cuddling with a sandalwood and musky scented blanket after a long and exhausting day. If you are interested in freshening up your linens this way, consider using an alluring or cosy fragrance on your sheets and throw blankets to make snuggling up before bedtime with that certain someone extra romantic.

5. Do-It-Yourself (DIY) carpet refresher

From mildew problems to pet hair, carpets attract all kinds of unwanted odours. One way to address that issue is by using your samples as a DIY carpet refresher. A simple recipe you can follow is adding several drops of the perfume sample into baking soda and then sprinkling the mixture all over the carpet. Let it sit for five to ten minutes before vacuuming to ensure it leaves a lovely scent.

6. Scent your wardrobe

Sprucing up your wardrobe is another great way to use your perfume sample collection. Spritz on a few pumps on your sweaters, coats, and other garments to give them a refreshing scent that is sure to be more welcome than a musty one the next time you wear them.

7. Eliminate garbage odour

After a while, foul odours are bound to emanate from your garbage cans. Instead of a chemical odour remover, it would be good to try using your perfume samples first to see if they are enough to do the job. Once you have cleaned out your garbage cans and washed them down, dip a sample onto tissue paper or cotton balls and place them at the bottom before adding the bag.

8. Add to your bath

Make your self-care day more special by adding a refreshing perfume sample into your bath. Simply add a vial sample while your bath water runs to make a magical scent pleasing to the nose while not being too overwhelming.

Conclusion

Perfume samples are a great way to explore new scents to potentially add to a collection without committing to buying an entire bottle. But since they rarely get used beyond getting the initial scent impressions most of the time, they are often neglected and left to pile up over time. Hopefully, with these tips and with further research, you now have a good idea of how to introduce scents into other aspects of your life for free!

How to determine if your perfume has expired

5/12/2022

perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore How to determine if your perfume has expired
Finding your favourite scent might be hard, but what’s worse is having them expired after you’ve finally found the right scent! It is proven that yes, perfume indeed has an expiry date.

The typical shelf life of a perfume ranges from 3-5 years, and there are many factors that can affect it as well. If stored incorrectly, perfumes can evaporate and turn bad even faster.

While most perfume uses alcohol as a solvent, the others might use carrier oils such as sweet almond or olive oil. Oil based perfumes tend to expire faster as they contain fats in them .

Determining if your perfume has expired

#1 Check the packaging
While they don’t put an expiry date on the perfume, most perfumes packaging comes with a period-after-opening (PAO) label.  They can typically be found on the bottom of the perfume or on the box that came with it.

#2 Test how it smells
The most obvious way to tell if your perfume has gone bad is to smell it. You should know how your signature scent smells like. Take a test strip and spray your perfume on it. If you find that it smells drastically different from when you bought it, you can be sure that it has expired.

#3 Judge from the appearance of the perfume
Perfumes left for a long time would become darker and opaque due to the oxidation. If you find these signs in your perfume, you can deduce that your perfume is expiring.

So can we still use perfume that has expired? Your favourite scent could be giving off an unpleasant smell and causing skin irritation when applied, so is highly advisable to test before you use it.

DIY Scented Candles: The Best Project to Do for Yourself

5/4/2022

DIY Scented Candles: The Best Project to Do for Yourself
When it comes to creating their homes and adding a little pizazz to their abodes, most people tend to stick to adding new furniture and decor. But what about creating new scents? While you can always just buy and replace the old ones, creating your own candles is way more cost-effective and requires less time. And the best part? You can choose the scent you want and even specialise in a particular fragrance category. So, if you’re ready to get started, here are 6 easy steps to make your own candles and add a lovely scent to your home.

Step 1: Gather materials

The first step to making your own candles is to gather the necessary materials. First and foremost, you’ll need a few containers to store your candles. Also, you’ll need wax and fragrance of your choice, wick, container filler, a funnel, a digital scale, jars and lids, scissors, and a spatula.

Step 2: Melt the wax

The next step is to melt your wax. You’ll first need to measure the amount of wax you’ll need to do this. This will depend on the size of the container you’re using and the strength of the fragrance.

Take your containers, fill them with water and place them in an oven set between 54 and 64 degrees Celsius. Let the water boil for about 20 minutes and then take the containers out and let them cool. Once the wax is melted, it should be warm to the touch but not hot enough to cause burns. Place your containers on a heat-resistant surface and place a measuring cup on the side of the wax. Slowly pour the wax into the measuring cup, letting it fill up until the wax reaches the two-cup mark. Be careful, as it will be very hot.

Step 3: Pour the wax

Your next step is to pour the wax into your containers. Once you’ve done this, you’ll want to let the wax cool completely. This process is called “cure time”, and it allows the wax to harden.

You can speed up the process by placing the containers in an area at room temperature. The longer the wax is out, the longer it will take to harden. While the wax is cooling, you can get started on your containers. You’ll first want to choose containers that are wide enough to hold a lot of wax. You can also opt for glass containers, as they’re easy to clean, but you’ll want to make sure they’re shatterproof.

Step 4: Add the fragrance

Your next step is to add your scent. Depending on the scent you’re using, you can either add it directly to the wax or a fragrance base. Measure out your scent and then add it directly to your fragrance base or wax. You can also opt to make your own fragrance base. First, you’ll need to mix the fragrance oil with fractionated coconut oil in a double-boiler. Let the mixture simmer for about 30 minutes until it reaches a melted consistency. The mixture should be thick enough to stick to a spoon but still easy to pour.

Step 5: Wrap and cure the candle

Your next step is to wrap your candles. Depending on the size of the container you’re using, you’ll want to make sure to cover the candle in one layer of plastic or aluminium foil. You want to make sure the wax does not come into contact with air, as this will ruin the scent. Place your candles in the containers, ensuring they are not touching each other. If the wax is still too hot, you can place the containers in an area at room temperature until the wax cools down.

Step 6: Enjoy your New Candle!

Your last step is to enjoy your new candles! You can do this by warming your new candles in the microwave and then placing them in an area where the scent is allowed to permeate the air.

As with any home DIY project, you can use a few tips and tricks to make the process smoother. First, try to choose containers that are equal in height and width. While you can always trim the wax, you don’t want to cut the containers, as this can cause the candles to look uneven. Also, when you’re wrapping the candles, make sure to do so in a single layer of foil, as this will help with the scent getting out. And lastly, when it comes to curing your candles, place them in the containers and not directly on the countertop, as this will ruin the scent.

Conclusion

Making your own candles is a great way to reduce costs and make homemade scents. You can even take it a step further and make your own moulds to create unique fragrances. All you need is a little creativity, and you can have your very own homemade candles.

Aromatherapy can be familiar to some, but not known to others. Just what is aromatherapy? Aromatherapy is basically using essential oil to treat diseases. The essential oils are derived through distillation from different parts of the plant.

There are so many ways that you can use essential oil. You can reap the benefits of essential oil by applying them directly on the skin, diffusing and inhaling them, or even adding a few drops into your shampoo or skincare.

Let’s take a look at some of the common illnesses that we can treat with aromatherapy.

For when you’re stress:

Fruity Fragrance Ideas to Get That Fresh Summer Scent

4/27/2022

Picture
There’s nothing like the smell of the warm season coming in, and it’s not just because we get to enjoy all the fresh scents. The summer scent evokes memories of long, lazy days and picnics in the park. And with it comes the smell of a new atmosphere and fruity fragrances.

We’ve rounded up some of our favourite ideas for incorporating fruits into your home for a summery, fresh scent. From fragrant candles to diffuser blends, you will be able to do this at home no matter your skill level.

Make candles from fruits

Candles are a great way to add a fresh scent to your home for summer, and you can even find some scented with fruits! You can use fresh or frozen fruit to make your candles, and for best results, you should let the fruit macerate for a few hours before using it to make your candles. You can also add alcohol to help the fruit smell stay longer.

You don’t have to be a candle maker to create scented candles with fruits. To make a fruit candle, you can use your favourite fruit preserves, fruit puree, or even juice. You can also get creative with your moulds and scents, even making themed scented moulds. Moulds can be found in many craft stores, and they’re great for creating candles shaped like fruit or flowers.

Incorporate diffuser blends

If you have a scented diffuser, add some fruit blends for an extra fresh scent. You can find a variety of combinations from different sources or make your own fragrance by adding just one or two fruity elements to create a light and sweet blend.

You can even use fresh or frozen fruit, and for best results, let your fruit macerate for a few hours before using it to make your blends. You can also add coconut or olive oil to your mixes to add a creamy texture. When all is done, use your diffuser’s mist function to create a fruity, flowery mist for your home.

Make a fruity body powder

This is an easy and simple project you can do to add a fruity scent to your home. Combine your favourite dehydrated fruit or fruit puree with a homemade body powder, and then mix the two.

Use it as a dry body powder for a light, and sweet scent or a wet body wash for a more natural scent. If you want to take it a step further, you can make a scrub for your feet or other areas.

This is an easy and inexpensive project that you can do for a fresh scent in your home or a gift for someone else. It is an excellent option for those planning a bridal shower activity to do in Singapore. The shared activity can make a great bonding experience with a souvenir that everyone can bring home at the end of the day.

You can also use this as a craft project for kids, so they can learn about mixing ingredients and creating something new. It’s an excellent project for them, and they can even help you add the components once they get the hang of it.

Conclusion

Summertime is the season for smelling fresh, and the best way to do that is by adding some fruits to your home. They make the perfect seasonal fragrance. The possibilities are endless, whether used as a candle, diffuser blend or added to a room. Make your home summer-ready by incorporating these fruit elements into your home today.

Why does Price Not Equate to Perfume Quality?

4/22/2022

Have you ever wandered what are you actually paying for when you purchase perfumes? Why is it so expensive and yet why people still opt for better priced perfumes as compared to the ones that are not as well known?

There are many misconceptions in regards to perfumes being better quality when it is more expensive and of a certain brand. Of course, I would not negate the probability that better-known brands could secure the credibility of perfume quality but there are also perfume gems out there that are of a good quality and sold at a more affordable price!

Hence, before you make a decision to purchase a perfume, you may want to consider what you may actually be paying for, and determine if you really do need that high-end luxury brand perfume instead of perfumes other retail store perfumes after all!

Branding

perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore Why does Price Not Equate to Perfume Quality?
Branding can be one of the spending traps some would fall into. Why? Because of the polished advertisements, the gorgeous super models, and their many enticing claims and benefits that comes after buying them! I mean, how wrong can I be to trust in long-established brands?

Please do not misunderstand, I believe that every brand has their pros and cons in buying them. However, most of the time advertisements do not deliver the reality of the product, only allowing us to see the good sides of it and never its possible flaws. Therefore, before you go forward in buying that branded perfume, you may want to look into not just their reviews but if possible, head down to try it on your own to determine the advertisements’ credibility.

Final Formulation Product

perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore Why does Price Not Equate to Perfume Quality?
Quality perfumes must firstly possess a scent that we like! If the scent is not something we like, whether the perfume provides good strength, power or long lastingness, it will still not be added into our shopping cart.

Next you can now figure out by testing out the perfume fragrance’s power. Can it be perceived? How is the intensity? This is important to judge its quality as some perfumes can be too diluted where its odor is too mild and subtle to even detect. While some perfumes may be too intense and overpowering for your preference. Good quality perfumes are of appropriated intensity and concentration as allowed according to IFRA standards.

Lastly, perfume quality includes the perfume’s synergy. The perfume synergy is influenced by fragrance composition synergy and fragrance interaction synergy.

Fragrance composition synergy checks if the fragrance smells wholesome. This means that it ensures that the perfume doesn’t smell singular, flat or owns an uneven fragrance mixture.
As for fragrance interaction synergy, it is the synergy effect of how the fragrance interact with your own skin. Everyone has their own unique scent, so what smells good on your body may not on another.

Fragrance Ingredient Cost

perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore Why does Price Not Equate to Perfume Quality?
Cost of Fragrance ingredient can very closely affect the cost price of a perfume but may not influence the perfume quality as much as we expect. This is because even if simple and more affordable fragrance ingredients are used to formulate the perfume, it could also be very well made if done properly.

Like limited edition items, the lesser quantity it has, the more expensive it is, yet the higher demand, making it appear like the product could be worth what you are paying for. Therefore, creating the mistaken belief that rarer the fragrance ingredient automatically makes the ingredient a good one, so the pricier a perfume is, the better it is.

Finally,

What I would like to end off is that price is not always a determining factor to conclude if the quality of the perfume is good or not. Looking into other factors such as its fragrance profile likability, strength and synergy could help you determine the perfume’s worth better.

Attend a perfume workshop to create your very own quality and personalized perfume now! It is not only an exciting learning process on how perfume could be made but also a fun and interactive experience to get to more knowledge about fragrances but also about your perfume preference inclination!

8 Ways to Extend the Shelf Life of Your Favourite Perfumes

4/13/2022

8 Ways to Extend the Shelf Life of Your Favourite Perfumes
Perfume is something that people wear to make themselves feel a specific way. It’s an indulgence, something to splurge on and treat yourself to. When you stop wearing your favourite scents, they don’t just stop smelling like themselves. They lose their identity and character.

Perfumes have a shelf life. So, what do you do when you have one too many? Here are eight ways to make your favourite perfumes work longer.

1. Don’t store it upright

It seems logical that you should store your perfume upright in a dark, air-tight container to lengthen the shelf life as long as possible. However, this isn’t the case. When you store your perfume upright, you’re pushing the air out of the bottle.

Once the air in the bottle has evaporated, you have minimal chance of getting more. Oils have a short shelf life, so you’re essentially swapping out the active ingredients for air by keeping your bottle upright.

2. Don’t heat it above body temperature

One of the most common ways people damage their perfume is by applying heat to it. If you use your perfume above body temperature, you’re doing more harm than good. You’re going to stretch out the fragrance and change its smell.

If you’re eager to get more use out of your favourite scent, try blotting it with a cloth rather than applying heat.

3. Keep it out of direct sunlight

If you have a bottle of your favourite perfume, you have probably kept it in a drawer or a cabinet kept out of the light. This is a mistake. Whilst you don’t need to expose it to UV rays, you need to let it shine slightly.

Place your perfume in a room where there is plenty of natural light, and it will be able to look forward to lots of love from you. Your perfume will thank you for it.

4. Shake it gently before use

As soon as you bring your new perfume home, give it a gentle shake. This works twofold. Firstly, you’re mixing the ingredients to create a more even scent. Secondly, you will expose the molecules to the air, which will help them last longer.

Of course, if your bottle is too full, you may create more of a mess than anything else. If this is the case, simply use a tissue to remove any excess before giving your bottle a shake.

5. Use quality oils

Perfumes are made up of various ingredients, and some will be more important than others. The scent of your perfume is largely down to the oils in it.

Oils such as citronella and eucalyptus tend to be the most common in natural fragrances, and these will evaporate relatively quickly. You can try swapping these for more long-lasting ingredients such as patchouli, vetiver or amber, although this will add to the price of your perfume.

6. Keep the lid on tight

You will find that most perfume bottles have a plastic lid. This is to help keep the scent in, and you should keep it on the bottle as much as possible.

If you keep the lid on tight, your fragrance should be able to breathe without getting too much exposure to air. Whilst you don’t want your perfume to be exposed to direct sunlight or heat, you should be able to leave it out without having to worry about it evaporating.

7. Don’t pump the bottle

As soon as you have opened a new perfume bottle, you should give it a little shake. This will help your scent settle and evenly distribute the oils. Once you have done this, you should not pump the bottle. This creates more air space in the bottle, which is the last thing you want.

8. Do let your perfume breathe

You should be able to smell your perfume from a distance, but you should let it breathe for the best results. This means that you should hold your bottle at a slight angle so that the scent has the opportunity to seep into the air.

Don’t hold your bottle directly under a light source, or it could oxidise, and don’t store it in a crammed dresser. Let it breathe, and your perfume should last longer.

Conclusion

The lifespan of a perfume will vary depending on the scent and how often you wear it. While some scents can only last for about a few hours, others can last for months. So, to extend the life of your perfume, you will have to be more selective about what you buy. You can do several things to help ensure you get as much use out of your perfumes.

Perfumes are a delicate matter but are a great payoff. You can either make your own perfume or get them off a store’s shelf. Whether you need help bringing a new fragrance into your home or just want to try something new, there are plenty of options for perfumes.

Perfumery is an art and science that can be perfected with time by taking notes from the scent itself as well as its impact on our surroundings. You might even attempt to create your own perfume for the next project!

Why do Perfumes Make Great Gifts?

4/12/2022

Many times, people have second thoughts about gifting a perfume to their love ones, family members, their friends and colleagues as they are afraid, they would not like the scent they have picked for them.

However, before you make this decision, let me give you reasons otherwise on why you should add perfumes to your to-buy gifts!

First: Reveals a Sufficiently Close Relationship

perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore Why do Perfumes Make Great Gifts?
The first reason to gift a perfume is that it shows very clearly how much you know about the person.
To pick a perfume, you will have to know and consider not yourself but the party you are buying it for and do some homework for it. You will have to know about what they would like, what scent they would avoid and what brand series they like.

Second: Expresses Sincere Affections

perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore Why do Perfumes Make Great Gifts?
No matter how easy it seems, to select a scent that they like or something that suits them, you may have to narrow down the brands, go down to the store to try out and comb through some series in the retail store before getting one.

Hence, this effort and money paid will definitely put a smile on the receiver’s face especially if the perfume is something they like and would use!

Scents are great tool in imprinting our memory and making them unforgettable. However, despite how research has proven its credibility, this knowledge is not as widely known as the other memory exercise techniques commonly used.

Remember the smell of your partner, spouse, friends or even family members? What about the times and memory when you can smell them? Or a particular memory in your childhood where the trigger is the smell of cinnamon or vanilla from your kitchen or the bakery store near your house? Do you also recognize the smell of rain, and get reminded of a memory when you smell the arrival of rain?

These are just some examples that help you to see that this perfume you gift your friend can create another wonderful memory that you can look back to when you smell this same familiar scent again in the future.

Fourth: Valuable since Ancient Times

perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore Why do Perfumes Make Great Gifts?
Historically, perfumes have also been greatly revered. It is also known in Christianity that frankincense and myrrh fragrances have been selected as gifts to their King and Lord, Jesus when He is born.

Other than Christianity, Hinduism also used sandalwood aromatic incense for worship and its scents carry a symbolism of wealth, and prestige as well.

Not only frankincense, myrrh and sandalwood but other scents have also been used by the royals and nobles since the past and seen as precious as or if not more than gold. Perfumes can represent status, and embodying graceful perfumes garners respect and admiration from others.

Fifth: Great to Lift Moods

perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore Why do Perfumes Make Great Gifts?
Fragrances are well known to be able to soothe and influence our emotions. This effect allows us cleverly make us of the perfumes we buy as a gift to support our fellow love ones or friends through their stressful and anguished moments.

Fragrances that helps improve our moods include scents such as Chamomile, lavender, rose, musk and citrus scent like mandarin and oranges.

Boosting focus could also be accomplished with certain types of fragrances such as lemon, bergamot, eucalyptus and Rosemary.

Last but not least,

If after reading this you are still uncertain of what type of perfume to buy for your love ones, why not bring them to a perfume workshop and make one for each other yourselves?
It could not only provide you more quality time with them but gain all the benefits you could have as stated above with proper guidance from the perfumers there.

The Psychology of Choosing the Perfect Scent for Your Home

3/30/2022

Picture
There's nothing quite like the feeling of walking into a room and immediately being able to tell what scent is lingering in it. Scent is hard to explain but even harder to ignore. Your sense of smell enhances your ability to take in the world around you and affects every aspect of your life. There's no denying that scent is a primal, visceral experience that can't be replicated in any other way.

Whether you want to bring the outdoors in, create a mood or simply make a room smell great, the scent is one of the best ways to create a cosy and welcoming environment. As such, it's no wonder that scents are such a popular choice for home décor. This article will explore why scent is so alluring, how scent works, how to choose the perfect scent, and how to choose a great scent for your home.

What is scent?

Before we get ahead of ourselves and start discussing how to choose the perfect scent, it's essential to understand what is scent exactly. The smell emanates one or more natural or artificial chemicals that humans can detect by the sense of smell. The smell is a subconscious perception that results in an emotional response. While we can't quite explain why we react in specific ways, we can recognise that scent is a key driver in the success of many businesses.

How does scent work?

How does scent work? Before we get into the nitty-gritty of choosing the perfect scent, it's worth understanding how the sense of smell works. Part of the reason scent is so important to marketing today is that it's a very personal experience. Some people are more sensitive to certain scents than others, so it's essential to know how your sense of smell works.

There are three main steps to scent perception:

  • Recognition – The first step to scent perception is recognition. This happens when the nose detects the presence of one or more volatile chemicals. The nose recognises volatile chemicals by binding with them. This binding occurs thanks to the olfactory receptors in the nose, which are proteins that react with specific chemicals.

  • Binding – Once the nose has detected a particular scent, it must bind with it. This is where the sense of smell comes into play, as we detect volatile chemicals by binding with them. This extremely complicated process involves thousands of olfactory receptors in the nose. Many of these receptors are in constant flux, so when we detect a specific volatile chemical, our sense of smell binds with it.

  • Sense of Smell – A sense of smell is the final step in the process, as the brain then detects a scent and interprets it as a recognisable object.

Tips for choosing the perfect scent

Now that you know more about scent, it's time to learn how to choose the perfect scent for your home. There are a few key points to consider when choosing a scent, so let's take a closer look.

  • The Scent of Your Home – The first thing to think about when choosing a scent is the scent of your home. If you want to bring the outdoors in or create a relaxing atmosphere, consider the aromas already present in your home. If you're going to change the atmosphere in your home completely, consider purchasing oil diffusers with different scents to fill the room with a new fragrance.

  • Product – In addition to considering the scent of the room, it's also worth considering the product's scent. From candles to incense, almost any product contains fragrance, and you should consider what kind of scent you want in your home.

  • Timing is Everything – Finally, it's important to consider the timing of your scent. While you can use scent in many different ways, choosing the right time is essential. It's easy to use incense in the morning when people are fresh and alert, but there are other times when it's more appropriate. For example, if you use a candle in the evening, you'll create a more relaxing atmosphere. If you want to take advantage of the sense of smell, use it at the right time.

Conclusion

The scent is one of the oldest and most powerful ways to create a connection between people and products. It's one of the essential elements of marketing and branding, and it directly affects every human being on the planet.

Now that you know more about choosing the perfect scent, it's time to get creative. Whether you want to create a relaxing atmosphere, bring the outdoors in, or simply make your room smell great, there are plenty of scents you can use.

You can choose from a wide range of scents or even make your own fragrance, and each one will have a different impact on your surroundings. Whether you need help bringing a new fragrance into your home or just want to try something new, there are plenty of options to suit your needs. You might even attempt to create your own perfume for the next project.

What You Need to Know to Wear Your Perfume Like an Expert

3/23/2022

Perfumes are delicate and required much care. Therefore, it is important to understand what requirements and precautions you would need to take when you have one.
The guidelines below would help you to know what you should and should not do to your perfumes and how to best apply it on yourself.

Spray Your Perfumes, Don’t Rub Them

perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore What You Need to Know to Wear Your Perfume Like an Expert
Use the option of spraying instead of rubbing your perfume on your skin. Perfumes are sensitive creatures, especially to heat. The heat sensitive aromatic compounds of perfumes and also its volatile alcohol solvent which evaporates faster with heat are all factors and reasons why you should not rub your perfumes.

The action of rubbing perfume on your wrist causes abrasion and this friction between the two wrist produces heat which not only accelerates the evaporation of the perfume but also causes some degradation of the aromatic compound, which possibly changing the fragrance original scent.
If you decide to spray the perfume on your body, omit the action of rubbing will help to make the fragrance strength and profile last longer.

Weather Temperature

perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore What You Need to Know to Wear Your Perfume Like an Expert
Since perfumes are made to be dispersive, depending on the weather temperature of your country, it is great to apply on areas that are allows this dispersive functionality to reach its optimum capability and allowing the fragrance to be exuded and carried by the breeze easily as you walk.
In countries with cold seasons and temperatures, application of your perfumes behind your ears, necks and wrist could be a good option.

However, if you live in tropical regions or are currently experiencing the hot summer season, then application to areas behind your ears, necks and wrist are body parts that most easily heats up may not be a good idea. This is because not only will the perspiration wash away the fragrance you put on, but the heat from the weather can cause the fragrance profile and strength to be sapped away.
Therefore, during summer seasons or when the weather is hot, spraying on your clothes is a better option than on your skin if you want the fragrance to last longer and also be dispersive enough to allow the fragrance to be released as you walk.

Storage Factor

perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore What You Need to Know to Wear Your Perfume Like an Expert
Before you buy a perfume, you must be prepared to have a cool, dry and dark/shady place to store your perfume.
As much as possible, try not to expose your perfume to sunlight as the UV rays and heat can damage the fragrance composition causing unwanted changes to the fragrance profile. The darker the bottle of the perfume bottle the better it can help to act as an extra protective layer to cover the perfume content from sunlight.

Also, do not also store it in the toilet, as the room is humid and the steam and accumulation of water vapor in the air can cause break down of the chemical compounds of the perfume as well.

In Short,

Remember that perfumes are heat sensitive, so do ensure you have a good storage environment for them, preferably in a cool, dry and dark environment. Also, make sure that you consider the weather temperature in correspond to the places or body parts you wish to apply your perfume.

Why You Should Start Making Your Own Signature Perfume

3/23/2022

Why You Should Start Making Your Own Signature Perfume
Why You Should Start Making Your Own Perfume

Did you know that the sense of smell is the most powerful and potentially one of the most memorable? In fact, studies have shown that when we are exposed to a certain scent, it can trigger memories from our past or even emotions. Choosing your own fragrance is an important decision as it will be with you for a long time. Fortunately, you don’t have to spend a lot of money on designer perfume to find something that is perfect for you. Here are some simple steps to help you make your own perfume at home!

Why Make Your Own Perfume?

There are many reasons why you may want to make your own perfume. First, it is much less expensive than buying designer brands. Second, you might enjoy making your own fragrance that is unique to you. Third, it can be an easy DIY project for the day when you feel like experimenting with essential oils.

Some people find that perfumes don’t last as long on their skin, and they’re looking for a more natural alternative. The great thing about making your own perfume is that you can use essential oils and other natural ingredients to create a scent that lasts for hours! Plus, if you find a scent that matches your personality perfectly, make a larger batch of perfume in advance to have it handy anytime.

The Simple Process of Making Your Own Perfume

Making your own perfume is surprisingly easy. In fact, you could have a custom fragrance in less than an hour! The process is simple and can be broken down into three steps.

Step One: Choose Your Base

The first thing you need to do to make your own perfume is choose the base for your fragrance. There are many different options available on the market, so it’s essential to find one that matches you best. For example, try a floral scent if you want something romantic or feminine. If you want something more masculine, try patchouli or leather scents. It’s also important to consider what time of year before choosing a fragrance. For example, citrus scents are perfect for summer because they remind us of hot days and fun activities like beaches and sunbathing.

Step Two: Add Your Favourite Scents

Now that you’ve chosen your base, it’s time to add in some favourite scents! There are many different types of fragrances available on the market today, and there is something for everyone. You can choose from floral scents like lavender or orange blossoms for those who would like their perfume to smell sweeter or more romantic; earthy aromas like sandalwood or patchouli for those who prefer a more masculine fragrance; fruits such as peach or pineapple if you’re going for a fruity scent; and spices such as cinnamon or nutmeg if you’re looking for a sweet and warm note.

What You’ll Need to Get Started

All you need to create your own perfume is a glass or metal container with a dropper, white vinegar, water, and essential oils.

Let’s start by filling the container about halfway up with white vinegar. Next, add a few drops of your favourite essential oils. This can be any combination of scents that you enjoy. Lastly, fill the container up with water and mix it all together vigorously. Now you should have your very own homemade perfume!

Tips to Make Your Scent Smell Like You

1. Choose the base.
2. Add the top notes.
3. Add the heart notes.
4. Add the bottom note.
5. Mix together and enjoy!

How to Know If It’s Good Enough

When you’re trying to create your own signature scent, there are some simple questions to ask yourself to determine if what you’ve made is perfect for you.

- Do the notes of your perfume create a balance? If so, the scent will likely be pleasing to most people.
- Does the perfume evoke specific memories or emotions? If so, then it’s likely a good choice.
- Is it long-lasting? If so, it’s time to put in on and go out into the world with confidence.

Conclusion

Starting your own perfume line can be an incredibly fulfilling experience, more so when done as part of a wellness team activity. 4 Ideas to Make Your Bridal Shower Experience Unforgettable

4 Ideas to Make Your Bridal Shower Experience UnforgettablePicture
Just like the big wedding day, the bridal showers that come before are all about the experience. Thus, it is totally understandable if you are looking for more interesting and exciting ways to spend it and make unforgettable memories with those near and dear to you. Since the usual activities and traditions have not changed much over the years, there is no doubt that they too would be delighted to try some fresh experiences. Here are our top four recommendations for a modern bridal shower if you need some ideas to work with.

1. Get lost in the aromas of a perfume workshop

Perfumes are part and parcel of every lady’s beauty products, so taking a deep dive into the world of perfumery is one novel idea that you should consider. Learning all about scents and how they do their magic is not just helpful for upping you and your posse’s perfume game; it also builds and strengthens bonds as you get to know each other better when you make your own perfume. Express your personalities by experimenting with an expansive array of oils under the guidance of an expert perfumer who will lead you to the fragrances tailor-made for you, all while having a ball in the process!

2. Up your handwriting with a calligraphy class

In these times when writing is no longer an everyday activity for most people, learning how to write a beautiful script is a great skill that should not be neglected, especially since you are likely to be making plenty of handwritten notes before the big day. Signing everyone up for a calligraphy workshop helps improve handwriting and lets you master relevant skills like penning thank-you notes and envelope addressing.

3. Unwind with a bit of art

Unleash your creativity by dabbling in something self-expressive, like in an art class. Art encompasses more than just painting or drawing, so there are plenty of choices in this regard. For instance, you and your friends could try your hand at crafting tiny yet elegant terrariums, soy candles, napkin decoupage, floral art, and so much more! Your imagination is the limit when it comes to this experience, so do not be afraid to try something new for everyone to enjoy!

4. Host a wine tasting party

No bridal shower is ever complete without a bit of bubble. To make things more special, though, consider inviting a sommelier or wine specialist to the mix and let them guide everyone in all things wine tasting 101. Moreover, you can even incorporate a theme around the tasting, such as places you have visited before or where you are spending your honeymoon. In short, although wine tasting has undoubtedly been done many times before, there are still plenty of fun twists you can add to make it a unique experience for you and the gals.

In Summary,

Bridal showers are a time-honoured custom that celebrates the bride-to-be in the company of close friends and family. And while certain customs remain integral to this celebration, such as the opening of gifts, there are certainly more options one can choose to make it a memorable experience for everyone.

At PerfumeWorkshop, we strive to provide you with these unforgettable moments through our premier bridal shower perfume workshop experience. Revel in exquisite scents with your posse as you make your own fragrances and delight in the unique magic of creating something wonderful in this fun and educational journey into the wide world of perfumery.

What to Consider When Buying a Perfume for a Friend?

3/13/2022

Fragrances are special gifts that can be closely personal to some of us. They are affectionate gifts that could show how special the person is by surprising them with their favourite scent or a scent that you personally think would suit them.
Fragrances can also be deeply etched to our memories and with fragrances as gifts, its scent can be imprinted as a special memory with you as well!
perfume making workshop for signature scent Best way to enjoy a perfume team building Singapore What to Consider When Buying a Perfume for a Friend?
Do not select extremes in perfumes; perfumes that are too intense - too sweet or floral or even too woody, especially if you aren’t too certain of their preferences.
Stick to safer choices such as subtle vanilla tones, clean musk, mild florals or refreshing aquatic scents. Vanilla tones usually produce comforting and soothing emotions, on the other hand, musk is also a safe choice as some could not perceive it well but would still gravitate towards it as it gives a clean finish to the scent. Florals such as lily of the valley with refreshing aquatic scents are usually good in giving a gentle yet beautiful body to the perfume.

Personality Influence

Most of the time, our personality gives insight as to what fragrances we gravitate towards. An obvious example would be matching a person with a feminine personality with florals or masculinity with spice or wood.
If your friend has an energetic nature, she may prefer fragrances that is airy, light with citrus and fresh nuances, giving a refreshing and sporty feeling to it. Contrarily, if the friend is a laid back, easy going person she may like calming and soothing scents with subtle floral and fruity scents such as muguet, water lily, tea, apple and white musk could work.

Lifestyle Insight

Fragrances can provide insights to people’s lives. People who have a very happening night life, others who goes to classy restaurants, some who just loves to have causal meet ups with friends, or even people who enjoys their visit to libraries and book stores will have to consider the different perfume etiquettes and thus also have their own preferences.

Age Preference

Our fragrance preferences do change and evolve as we age and are more exposed to more variety of fragrances. You may have realized that when you were younger, you may have more inclination to fragrances that are sweeter with fruity nuances like grapes, peach or green apple.
However, as we age, we can grow to deviate from our original preference and may lean towards more complex and sophisticated scents. Therefore, when you may want to take into account the perfume profile according to the age range of your friend.

To Conclude,
I believe that whether you have given a perfume that the person likes or a perfume you thought suited the person, it is the heart that counts.
Therefore, many people also opted to try personalizing a perfume for their love ones. You can do so by attending a perfume workshop, where perfumers are there to guide you along with your creation process!

PerfumeWorkshop Is the Place for Your Bonding Activities
Aromatherapy has a long history, dating back to 100 AD, and it is still being practised today due to its proven benefits. It builds the immune system and strengthens the body’s healing process by incorporating essential oils, which stimulates the brain’s limbic system that commands memory, emotions and learning, producing stress-reducing benefits along the way. It is one of the most sought-after methods to reduce stress and boost relaxation in individuals.

When it comes to a group of people, bonding activities are essential in building morale. It subliminally brings people closer, overlooking any differences that may have existed beforehand. These activities can create an environment where each person feels compelled to participate, evoking a natural response in feeling a sense of belonging and togetherness, promoting collaboration within the group.

Exploring The Relationship Between Scents And Productivity

Exploring The Relationship Between Scents And Productivity
All companies spare no effort in growing their business to smell the sweet scent of success. From relying on modern technologies to optimising processes, business leaders can improve on many factors to achieve business milestones. Another such area is revamping the workplace and designing it from the ground up to spark creativity and promote productivity among employees, the driving force behind any successful business. But apart from adopting tried and tested trends like incorporating natural lighting and introducing greenery into the office, what else can business owners do to improve employee performance? Surprisingly, the answer lies in scents. Let us explore the relationship between these two and learn more about them in detail.

How do fragrances influence productivity?

Fun fact: the human sense of smell has a significant impact on the brain, further cemented by the popularity of essential oils and aromatherapy that invoke a relaxing atmosphere that fights off stress and fatigue. This is undeniably helpful in high-pressure environments like the modern office. But what exactly is the science behind the influence of scents on productivity?

Before we get into the details, first think back to when a particular fragrance evoked strong emotions in you. Maybe it could have been when you got a whiff of a dish that smelled just like your mum’s cooking or the scent of a perfume that a loved one used to wear. If so, you now have an idea of just how closely tied scents are to our moods.

The olfactory bulbs in our brain receive neural input about everything our nose detects. As part of the limbic system, these bulbs are directly connected to the sections of the brain that handle emotions and learning. Some studies have also discovered a direct correlation between fragrances and cognitive functions such as memory and focus. In short, this means scents are highly likely to boost one’s productivity and heighten concentration at work.

A few more benefits of introducing scents to the workplace

1. Minimise stress

As mentioned above, the modern workplace is fraught with all sorts of responsibilities and deliverables that are certain to cause plenty of stress, negatively affecting the performance of employees. Certain fragrances can help with this issue thanks to their healing properties like ‘stress busters’.

Researchers from the School of Dentistry from the Meikai University of Japan discovered that fragrances like rosemary and lavender significantly decreased cortisol, the body's stress hormone. Another study conducted by Japanese researchers found that a substance found in lemons called linalool could help tone down the body’s fight-or-flight stress response.

2. Boost work performance

Fatigue and stress are detrimental to mental clarity, which is essential in focusing on one’s task. A study conducted by the Takasago Corporation revealed that the lemon fragrance helped reduce typing errors by 54 per cent, 33 per cent with jasmine, and 20 per cent with lavender. Another research showed how clerics exposed to peppermint scents performed much better in accuracy and speed when conducting typing tasks.

3. Inspire creativity

Scents neutralise odours that may negatively affect an employee’s mood. According to assistant professor Rachel S. Herz of Brown University, people become more creative in their problem solving when exposed to pleasant scents compared to foul ones.

Conclusion

Given today’s demanding work culture, it only makes sense for business leaders to do what they can to promote the well-being of their staff and invest in the things that will enable them to work at the top of their game constantly. If you are interested in introducing some pleasant smalls into the office space, we suggest you make your fragrance with your team first and ask for their preferences. Contact Perfume Workshop today to get started on your office’s fragrant makeover!

Organising Bridal Showers: 7 Mistakes You Must Never Commit

2/24/2022

Organising Bridal Showers: 7 Mistakes You Must Never Commit
When a woman is about to walk down the aisle, a close friend is often tasked to organise a bridal shower activity in Singapore that will celebrate the bride-to-be’s last moments of being single.
To ensure that your best pal’s hen party will be as fun and as memorable as it can be, you need to make sure that you don’t commit the seven common mistakes below.

1. Not inviting the entire bridal party.

The bride has carefully handpicked the bridesmaids. They are women who are not only close to her but also play an essential role in her wedding and her life. This is why you need to make sure that you invite the entire bridal party and ask each of them to help organise the event.

2. Not planning the bridal shower ahead of time.

If you schedule the event too close to the big day, there’s a big chance that the bride and groom will already have a line-up of activities that they need to attend to. If you’re organising a friend’s hen party, make sure that you pick a date that’s a few weeks to a month away from the wedding. This is especially true if some bridesmaids don’t live within the same city.

3. Not sending the invitations on time.

A rule of thumb when it comes to sending out invites to everyone on your guest list would be four to six weeks before the bridal shower. This should give all of your guests enough time to prepare for the party. Sending them invitations ahead of time will also help them decide whether they want to attend the hen night or not.

4. Not asking for help from others.

Whether you’re planning to make your fragrance party, floral arrangement workshop, baking class, or spa day, holding such an event can be much work. This is why you need to seek help from other bridal party members, so you don’t get stressed out about it. The bride will indeed have friends or relatives who would want to pitch in to ensure the success of your bachelorette party.

5. Not sticking to the budget.

If you have a budget, as you should, it’s in your best interest to stick to it. This is especially important because the funding for most bridal showers is shared with the bride’s closest family and friends. It only makes perfect sense to ensure that you avoid going over budget – even if you need to do away with a few things.

6. Not including the registry information on the invitation.

Guests will appreciate it that you give them a head’s up of what the bride and groom would like to receive for their wedding. This is because people can be sure that the couple will appreciate the gifts they will be spending on.

7. Not sending “Thank You” notes.

Print out or purchase the “Thank You” notes days before the event so you can hand out each one of them to the attendees at the end of your get-together. These thank-you notes are the perfect finishing touch to make the bride and every guest feel extra special.

Conclusion

There are many bridal shower ideas you can try. But if you want something one-of-a-kind and isn’t too expensive, book a bridal shower party with Perfume Workshop today. They offer a fun, unique, and inexpensive workshop where you and the bridal party can create your perfume.
